the Babylonian Sun god, worshipped particularly in the cities of Larsa and Sippar; often depicted astromorphically and as stepping through a mountain pass between two gateposts, sometimes holding a key.

Origin and etymology

  • Astro-English: from Astronese, the Sun god Shamash was added to Babylonian Astronicism by Cometan during his initial scholarship of the ancient manifestations of the Astronic tradition.
