Richard de Sandbach, Knight (c.1215 – c.1280) was the 28th great-grandfather of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s medieval paternal ancestors in the Taylor family line.

Richard is known to have been born in Sandbach, Congleton, Cheshire and is thought to have also died somewhere in Cheshire. The identity of Richard’s wife remains unknown although he is recorded to have been the father of his son Richard Roger de Sandbach who connects him to the Cometanic ancestry. Richard was also the son of Roger de Sandbach and Clemence de Sandbach.

In Cometanic ancestry, Richard de Sandbach is categorised as part of the 30th generation retrograde, and because he was born before 1453, he is classified as a medieval ancestor of Cometan, a title that is rarely bestowed.
