Joan de Hoghton (also spelt as de Houghton; née Radcliffe; c.1338 – ????) was the 23rd great-grandmother of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s medieval paternal ancestors in the Taylor family line.
Born in Ordsall, Lancashire, Joan was the wife of Sir Richard de Hoghton, Knight and is also known to have been the mother of Sir William de Houghton, Knight. He was also the daughter of Sir Richard Radcliffe of Ordsall and Maud Matilda de Radcliffe. The details surrounding Joan’s death remain unknown except for that she is recorded as having died in Lancashire.
In Cometanic ancestry, Joan is categorised as part of the 25th generation retrograde, and because she was born before 1453, she is classified as a medieval ancestor of Cometan, a title that is rarely bestowed.
