Elizabeth “Betty” Moon (also spelt as Moone; née Stock; April 1733 – April 1788) was the 6th great-grandmother of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s distant maternal ancestors in the Prescott family line. Born in Wigan, Lancashire, Elizabeth was married to Ralph Moon (1724 – 1793), but she died at the age of fifty-five in Eccleston, Lancashire and was buried on 13th April 1788 at St Mary the Virgin Church in Eccleston near Croston although the gravestone depicting her name has sadly crumbled away (see image). Elizabeth is recorded as having been baptised on 15th April 1733 at All Saints’ Church, Wigan, Lancashire.
She married her husband Ralph at St Thomas the Martyr Church in Upholland, Lancashire on 22nd November 1752. With Ralph, Elizabeth is recorded as having given birth to five children named Henry (b. 1753), Robert (b. 1755), James (b. 1758), Isabel (b. 1760), and Alice (b. 1767). Her parents were James and Ann Stock.
In Cometanic ancestry, Elizabeth is classified as part of the 8th generation retrograde, thus categorising her as an ancestor of Cometan.
