The figureship of Cometan refers to the overall nature of the role of Cometan in regards to Astronism and Astronist affairs. The changing nature of how Cometan is perceived by different facets of the Astronist community has formed by different beliefs, theories, and approaches to the matter of Cometan's figurehead role as the founder of Astronism which has subsequent formed the branch of Astronism known as Cometanism. The term Cometanism may be used by some to denote particular emphasis by Astronists placed on Cometan in relation to the nature of his personage.
