Astronomical religion

a derivation of natural religion, a form of religion or religious philosophy characterised by a centrality placed on outer space as the prime source of spiritual connection or existential guidance.


Origin and etymology

  • Astro-English: from Astronese, the term astronomical religion was coined by Cometan to denote a form of religion based on outer space or on an astronomical theme.
