Astronism in the United Kingdom refers to the presence of the Astronist philosophy and religion in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The operations of the Astronist Institution in this sovereign state are under jurisdiction of the Astronist Superiate of the United Kingdom, a national subsidiary of the worldwide Astronist Institution and the first to be established by Cometan as part of the broader establishment of Astronism.

The Astronist Superiate of the United Kingdom oversees the construction and maintenance of observatories and planetariums throughout its jurisdiction. The United Kingdom is split into one-hundred counties and is set to hold one Grand Observatory in the city of Preston, and is also set to host the largest Astronist observatory in the world in the capital city of London called The People’s Grand World Eidouranium

The United Kingdom also hosts four main denominations of Astronism in the kingdom, including Scottish Astronism, Northern Irish Astronism, Welsh Astronism, and English Astronism. The Astronist Superiate of the United Kingdom is responsible for the administration of institutions of Astronism in the kingdom’s various overseas territories and dependencies.

Astronism holds its roots in the United Kingdom as the organised philosophy was founded there in the early 21st century by the British philosopher, Cometan, during the several years referred to as The Founding of Astronism.

According to the 2020 Demographics of Astronism report published by the Astronist Institution, there were 155,969 Astronists living in the United Kingdom, up from 146,000 British Astronists reported in 2019.

Recognition of Astronism in the United Kingdom[]

As of November 2020, Astronism is not currently recognised as a religion by the government of the United Kingdom and therefore does not official governmental recognition or the associated benefits of such a recognition. However, the Vendox symbol of Astronism is registered as a trademark in the Class 45 category[1].
