Astro-Caledonian philosophy, or New Caledonian Astronism, refers to the presence of Astronism in New Caledonia. This territory is under management and philosophical jurisdiction of The Institution of The Philosophy of Millettism for the Special Collectivity of New Caledonia, which is under authority of The Institution of the Philosophy of Millettism for the French Republic, a national subsidiary for the worldwide Astronist Institution.
The Institution of the Philosophy of Millettism for the Special Collectivity of New Caledonia oversees the construction and maintenance of observatories and planetariums throughout its jurisdiction. New Caledonia is split into thirty-three municipalities and is set to hold one Grand Observatory in the capital city of Noumea, which will be one of only two observatories in the special collectivity.
This national branch of The Institution of The Philosophy of Millettism manages the official representation and depiction of Astronism throughout this territory, including efforts to protect the identity of the philosophy with the intention of further disseminating it throughout the territory.
It is The Institution alone that is granted the status of proprietor to the philosophy in this territory as any other organisations or institutions proclaiming such a role are deemed as unauthorised proprietors and are therefore considered as part of the anti-Institutionist movement.
History of Astronism in New Caledonia
As of November 2019, Astronism is not recognised as a valid religion or religious group in New Caledonia. According to the Astronist Institution's late 2019 report called the Demographics of Astronism, New Caledonia had a population of just 700 Astronists.
